Advanced Document Imaging Helps the United States Bureau of the Census Perform Quality Assurance for the 2010 Decennial Census
Rochester, New York – July 26, 2010 - Advanced Document Imaging (ADI, LLC) in Rochester, NY has successfully performed quality assurance testing for the United States Bureau of the Census for both questionnaire printing and electronic data capture in the 2010 Decennial Census.
ADI developed the necessary technology and instrumentation to measure the quality of printed materials at R. R. Donnelley print sites around the country. Coupled with a management web portal designed by ADI’s teammates, the Gunnison Consulting Group of Chevy Chase, MD, these components formed the Quality Information for Successful Printing (QUISP) system that was used by Census and the Government Printing Office (GPO) to assess print quality during production.
The company also developed the Production Data Quality (PDQ) test system that was used to independently evaluate data capture production output quality from the prime contractor (Lockheed Martin) by sampling almost a million forms and reporting the results to Census. This test system uses Parascript’s FormExtra and ADI’s special patent-pending algorithms to cost-effectively determine the truth of production data, which is then used for scoring.
ADI has been consulting for the Census Bureau since 1993, when they were instrumental in guiding the Census to use digital electronic imaging and computer automation for the first time to process the 2000 Decennial Census. They helped the Bureau with requirements, system studies, special test materials, data analysis, form designs, printing technology, electronic data capture and data quality evaluation.
The company’s patent-pending test technology in Digital Test Decks and Dynamic Data Generation were used extensively over the last seven years during the development of the Decennial Response Integration System (DRIS), which became the production system used for data capture from over 150 million questionnaires in 2010.
ADI is a privately held company (www.adillc.net) that creates, develops and integrates Data Quality Management products and services for testing and evaluation of data/image/form processing system performance to enable lower cost, continuous improvement, faster development cycles and improved quality.
